Looking forward to finally releasing my sample pack of recordings I did at the Bournemouth Air Show 2011!
Below is a short demo of some of the samples. There will be in total 40 samples including jet, propeller and helicopter aircraft. All recorded at 24bit 96kHz on a Nagra LB, with Sennheiser 418S.
I’ll be sure to post a link when they finally are available to download! :)
Wherever I’m living, I always end up drawn to recording the sound of the washing machine at some point! They often end up sounding pretty powerful when going full tilt on the spin cycles so of course I’d find it cool to record and mess about with ;)
I love how changing the pitch and tempo of sounds can make them sound completely other worldy, and this recording I thought would make a great example. The noisy, clanging, rhythmic nature of it worked well when slowed to form some kind of ominous almost underwater-esque machine. Slowing it down even further, then adding the first slowed down version gave it a cool syncopated feel giving it bit more life.
I ended up with something that I thought could make quite a good layer for a large mechanical lumbering engine!
Pretty bass heavy so best listened on headphones or speakers ;)
Purely in the interests of audio of course, I thought I’d try recording a bottle of Naked Grouse being opened. I loved the little squeaks and pop it makes when you take the cork thing out so I decided to record it, and share with you all.
To make the sound as authentic as possible I poured myself a wee glass of it too ;)
I’m sure you’ll agree it ‘sounds’ lovely. Now I better go and see how my bottle of Balvenie DoubleWood ‘sounds’ too for fair comparison…
Coming to the end of doing sound/dialogue editing for a cool forthcoming debut feature film called Weaverfish. Getting to the end of post-production now so will be looking forward to hearing how the final mix will shape! Will add more info when I get it..
